The Tween Workshop was created to give girls in 4th - 8th grade a safe space to connect, have fun and learn more about themselves and their bodies through yoga and mindfulness.  Mindfulness meditation is practiced at the start of each class and a short discussion follows, which is guided by weekly themes.  Yoga poses are introduced in an adult-like fashion, explaining the body alignment, the benefits of poses and the muscles being stretched.  Most importantly, we emphasize noticing how each pose feels in our own body.  At the same time, breath-to-movement flows and fun partner and group poses are introduced.  All classes end with a final relaxation and light journaling as a means of reflection.
